Saturday 08 July saw Leeds play host to the 7th Annual Champions of Champions Tournament.
20 teams gathered from across the country to take part in the summers most keenly contested tournament. A day of agony and ecstasy was guaranteed and the country's strongest teams didn't disappoint.
Early favourites fell at the first hurdle, old timers showed their resilience and new kids on the block showed the form that has made them champions in their own league.
The eventual winners were Woodfield Devils (Doncaster) who denied Shore Mechanical (Stoke) a 6th title on Sudden Death penalties in a tense finale, all
this after just scraping out of the group stages with a last minute goal.
Champion Soccer would like to thank all the teams and referees who attended for helping to make the day such a success.
Next year's event is already booked in to the University of Sheffield on Saturday 23 June 2007. With more pitches at Sheffield we are able to accommodate more teams.
We are also hopeful that for the first time we may host a Southern Event,
possibly in either Milton Keynes or Bournemouth.
Full details and applications will be available in January 07 - watch this space!
TEAM OF THE MONTH
Woodfield Devils play in the Doncaster leagues on a Monday and Sunday and were the 2006 Champion of Champions. They worked through the groups quietly then beat their much fancied opponents Shore Mechanical in a tense penalty shoot out in the final.
At present they are 14 games undefeated in the Monday league and are still in the chase for the Sunday title.
No doubt they will be back to defend their title at Sheffield in a few months time.
OVERSEAS TOURS
We have been so busy expanding our leagues this last 12 months that we haven't had time to organise any Overseas Tournaments recently.
Rest assured though that we will be doing so in 2007. To advance register your interest call us on 0113 253 5800 or email us at
